My 2005 Wish List Dec 22. 049

Well, most of the popular blogs seem to be sprouting ‘“retrospectives”:http://www.hicksdesign.co.uk/journal/589/lists-of-2004’ and ‘“predictions”:http://joshuaink.com/’ this week, so I thought I may as well jump on the bandwagon and grab myself a small slice of chrimbo geek traffic.

Therefore I present to you my ‘Wish list’ for 2005.

I wish that in 2005:

  1. Macromedia would revert to sensible product version numbering and ditch the ‘MX’ thing (‘Macromedia Flash 7’ is so much easier to say than ‘Macromedia Flash MX 2004 Pro’).
  2. My car insurance will cost less because I still haven’t hit anything and I’m a year older.
  3. Someone would find a way to squeeze more than 24 hours into a day, or failing that if I could work out a way to clone myself that’d be great.
  4. I could find the time to finish reading Are You Dave Gorman?

So… what are your wishes for next year?

1. Submit and be accepted to Zen Garden.

2. Stop working for someone else and get my own clients.

3. Earn actual cash instead of working for favours at ‘mates rates’!

4. Publish my formula for squeezing 36 hours into one day.  Either that or my new self cloning technique!  ;)

5. Find the time to read anything!

Right now, I am wishing Santa could bring me a ‘web wand™’ That way when clients expect a full website to be built in oh, say a week and a half I can wave my magic wannd and POW! job done. ahh the joys.

Other than that I hope I can afford to buy me a G5 with a cinema display, and maybe an iPod for good measure! :)

1. Macromedia will direct some of their development efforts to Freehand which is still the same except for minor changes since version 10.

2. Feel confident about my web development business instead of thinking I’m charging too much because I’m new.

3. Learn web design instead of just web development stuff.

4. Flash will be my friend…maybe.

5. Standards, standards, standards.

6. Actually finish one of the 6 books I’m reading right now.

John – A week and a half? Most of our clients think 3 days is too long!  Usual process for the company I currently work for is:

1 day – produce 2 different design ‘suggestions’.

2 days – build it.

After 2 days – Boss = ”...is the website done yet?..is the website done yet?.. is the website done yet?...” etc…

Help – anyone??

I wish that Macromedia MX2005, or NY2006, or whatever they call it, can handle bidi text.

If not all the suite, then at least in Dreamweaver and Flash….

To see my friends more, enjoy what I have, and hopefully with less worries.

:)

More good work and less stress too, though I think I forgot to ask santa for that!

;)
