Re-design Step 3: Er… start again? Apr 21. 055
So, I kinda went back to the drawing board. I scrapped my previous concept and came up with this.
Ok, so it’s not the worlds most amazing website design ever, but I like it. It’s simple, it’s easy on the eye and there’s flexibility for change, which my previous designs simply didn’t accomodate. I’m part way there with the build (as you can see) with just bits to finish off on title styling, comment invites and comment formatting.
Right now I’m still debating whether to add an ident of some type, or whether the domain name itself says it all… it’s me, you typed my URL so why should I shout it back at you.
I think this is a really excellent design. Very understated, subtle sophistication. Were you going to work in a title to your blog? It might help just in the name of usability. Kudos.
Planning to stick with this layout for a fair old time, although it might evolve here and there a little.
Not really sure how or where to work the title in, but your right a title would help, but I don’t want it to dominate.

I’m so behind on my redesign. I ended up hating my dark version. No idea what I’m going to do next yet. We shall see, eh?

Anton, I tried the ‘dark approach’ too, but it simply didn’t work. White on black just isn’t as easy on the eye as black on white.
