Branded bird madness? May 04. 0523

What’s the deal with all the bird brand logos at the mo…?

Barmy bird brands

Is this the next drop shadow, the next trend. Maybe I should get me a bird in my logo… or a Badger.

Quite clearly these others are copying me… you can blame Denis. of course!

Actually, you’ve given me the incentive to finish a post I was going to do last week…. When I have finished that all important client work that is! ;-)

You forgot smallTransport.

Jens, I also doubt the German correctness at this moment, however, when we discussed it at art history, it was Natureingang. Hey, it’s gotta have a name anyway! (Ich komme aus Holland, by the way, so my German may suck a little at times.)

Posted by Rob Mientjes on 04/05/2005 at 09:38 AM

Rob, what do you mean with “Natureingang”? I am German, but I don’t get it. Ok, Natur is the same as nature in English, and Eingang is a german word for something like entry, but the two words put together?!?

Posted by Julian on 04/05/2005 at 09:38 AM

I told you what it means in my first post. According to my teachers, and that’s the only sticky issue, Natureingang is the finding of inspiration in nature et al. It was especially popular during the Romance (is that the correct English name for that period?).

Crikey, really need someone with more knowledge of art history here.

I’ve seen it spelled Naturingang (“Nature Beginning”) and only in relation to Middle English works like Chaucer.

lol, I just stumbled upon this post again, and am scared that my own site now also uses a bird logo anyway … But of course, this just a nice thing.

Rob – Natureingang? Unfortunately, that is not German :)

Posted by Jens Meiert on 04/05/2005 at 09:38 AM

Why birds? Because bonsai are so last season :P

Posted by Andrew Krespanis on 04/05/2005 at 09:38 AM

I’m copying John.

You can blame Rob, of course.

Dont know about birds, BUT I’ve done a monkey (no not like that) like this: http://www.brown-monkey.com

Posted by PaulC on 04/05/2005 at 09:38 AM

Okay, fear my art history skills here…

Natureingang. The only German word I like. What you do is inspired and pushed by nature. Currently, nature-related objects as a silhouette are the rage. Adobe CS(2), 9rules, the ones you mention (sorry folks, I just like ducks ;))… There’s plenty more. Silhouettes are all the bummin’ rage, and nature-inspired stuff is just as hip.

There you have it. I think.

(That’s a lie: I prefer Zeitgeist.)

Also, yes, blame me, but copying Denis? Nah. It wouldn’t do his work right.

badgers!? badgers!? we don’t need no stinking badgers!

what about an emu? its a bird technically so you get 2 points there but it doesn’t really look like a typical bird so its individual enough to stand out.

Joshuaink bird came quite spontaneously. It was meant to be a part of the illustration, but then, it was perfect for a logo.

Here are some more worth mentioning bird logos

SRC, was good but never adopted.

These two logos are both great Their vague similarity is a coincidence.

Posted by Denis Radenkovic on 04/05/2005 at 09:38 AM

Denis. Yes I saw the ‘SRC’ logo before on your site, it’s a really great example of just how much information a considered logo can convey. :)

Just droped in from Oxton’s

I remember I first saw logo birds at Sinelogic.

They’re all nuts (especially that Oxten fellow – :) )

I think I’m going to make….  (thinking a moment)…

a SHARK logo.

actually, that would be pretty cool.

Water is an extremely important element for birds. Like all other living things they need to drink water to survive. Also, in order to stay alive, the birds need to keep their feathers clean so they make daily visits to safe, clean and consistent water sources for the important task of preening. The addition of a bird bath or water feature will attract more birds to your backyard.
