London wins Olympic bid! Jul 06. 055
Just heard on the radio that London has won it’s bid to host the 2012 Olympics!

London won a two-way battle against Paris at the IOC vote in Singapore, after bids from Moscow, New York and Madrid were eliminated.
It will be the first time the Olympics has been held in Britain since 1948.
Wow, this is amazing news, my daughter will be 8 in 2012 and we’ll be able to take her to see a once in a lifetime event.
Bet he’s kicking himself, he looks like a bit of a plonker now.
I heard that in Singapore 50 or so photographers were crowded around the Paris team and only 5 or so by the London team just before they announced the result. Woulda loved to have seen them photographers scamper like mad things across the hall when the result was announced. He he! :)
Heh, we all sat around a crappy old radio waiting for the announcement today. Was kinda funny : )
I felt the same way (my daughters will be 10,8 and 8 in 2012), although digging a bit deeper there are some alarming facts surrounding the Olympic bid.
We’re considering getting passports for the family and crossing the big blue wet thing so that we can be there when it happens.
