The iPad as a family computer Feb 25. 112

We’ve had out family iPad for some time now and whilst it truly is a ‘magical’ device it still falls a little short of being the perfect family computer. For many the iPad is a ‘personal’ device but for others it serves as a ‘shared’ device. Ours is used by all members of the family and often found in the lounge on the coffee table, or in the kitchen, or in one of the kids bedrooms!

What the iPad (or more specifically iOS) really lacks is multi user accounts though. Both my wife and I use the iPad a fair bit – I’d love to be able to check my mail on it but that means giving 3 young children access to my work mail account (hmmm!). By the same token the girls hate having to wade through screen after screen of ‘boy games’ and well myself and my wife can’t both be signed into Facebook at the same time.

The iPad is a social device which lends itself naturally to being shared, here’s hoping Apple makes more of this in a future software update! :)

Happy 3rd Birthday Neve! Mar 14. 071

Neve had her 3rd Birthday Party at the weekend. Here she is feeling a little embarrassed about being the centre of attention, and about to blow the candles out. :)

I really cannot quite believe that she is 3 already, where has the time gone! This time last year, the year before, and the year before that.

Kian Pitman - ‘Hello World’ Nov 21. 0614

So, after 9 months and 13 days my wife Jo was booked in for an inducement today at our local Hospital. After a lot of false starts during the past weeks we didn’t hold out much hope for an unassisted arrival but at 11:30pm last night contractions started. By 1:30am this morning they were regular and at 2:40am Jo’s waters broke.

A quick call to the Labour ward and shortly after we’re ready to go. Jo feels the urge to push before we’re even in the car but manages to hold off through another 15 minutes of contractions while I jump pretty much every red light between home and hospital.

24 minutes after arriving on the Labour ward Kian Jonathan Pitman makes his arrival, pushed out in a single contraction and only just caught by the midwife.

I’m so proud to have a son and even prouder of my wife Jo for keeping her legs crossed for long enough to mean that I didn’t need to google ‘“how to deliver a baby”:http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=how+to+deliver+a+baby’.

Happy 1st Birthday Isla Aug 22. 061

The Birthday girl with her cake. Which she ate rather large amounts of. Little pig. The party at the weekend was lots of fun. Thanks to everyone who was able to make it. :)

A boy it will be… Jun 26. 066

And so #3 is to be a boy. Quite a shock to be honest having had 2 girls, although I’m sure I will warm to the idea of a son. The Pitman name will live on.

I’ll update this post with some scan pics later on tonight.
