I must admit, I’ve been just a little dubious of all the banner ads you see sprinkled on the web advertising free ipods, PSPs etc. Well, after stumbling upon a blog entry by some seemingly normal fellow, and taking some time to do a little reading up on the subject, it actually seems that some of these websites are for real.

Freepay (aka Gratis Network) have been received a lot of favourable write ups in the press so I decided to sign up for a free account with them and suss out what it’s all about, and what I would need to do to grab myself a free XBox 360.

How does it work then?

Step 1 – Sign up:

Well, it’s pretty simple really. To claim your free Xbox 360 you need to sign up for a Freepay account, complete 1 ‘offer’ and refer 10 other people whom must also complete 1 offer.

Step 2 – Select an offer:

Offers are basically links to partner websites of Freepay where you can sign up for some or other service, Freepay obviously get paid for advertising the service and refering a new user. You’ll have to pick from 3 available offers.

The best offer to sign up for is the ‘ScreenSelect’ service, this is what I’ve plumped for. You sign up for a 30 day free trial, this entitles you to rent as many DVDs and Games as you want during that period. Thereafter you are charged £9.99 per month, but you can cancel your account at any time during or after the trial and avoid having to shell out any £’s. However it’s important to note that to complete the offer you have to rent at least 1 item (for free of course).

Step 3 – Refer refer refer!

Now that you’ve signed up and completed an offer you have 90 days within which to refer 10 people whom must also sign up for an offer. The best way to do this is to send your referal link to all your mates, and post an entry just like this one on your blog. In fact, just copy and paste this text and be sure to include your ‘referal link’ instead of mine.

Step 4 – Claim your Xbox 360

God knows if this will work, but hey, worst case scenario, we all get a bunch of free DVD rentals delivered to our door. Saves a trip to Blockbuster only to discover that all the decent films are out on loan. :)

    Sounds cool. I have seen similar with things like the mac mini, which apparently work.

    I am always tempted to have a crack but just loose interest after a few hours of spamming friends. If I do sign up at some point I will make sure I click your link :)

    Well, I guess they had to pay for those free Xbox360’s somehow hey. So I guess the advice would be to use a temporary email account, gmail, hotmail or such like. Thanks for the heads up Stuart.

    just wondering if anyone knows any new information concerning the gratis xbox360 website… I completed everything in the middle of January and have heard nothing from repeated attempts at contacting the website moderators. All i get are automated responses giving me deadend answers. Does anyone know if the lawsuit that happened in late March is affecting their shipments of xbox306s. In fact, are they even shipping out anything? cuz its seems like they aren’t to me… kinda pissed.

    You have to consider the low signup rate for Freepay. Only every 20th person who signs up using your referral link accepts one of Freepay’s offers and becomes green in your account. I have for instance for the laptop a signup rate of 6,01 per cent. 472 people signed up and 29 accepted an offer for the laptop until now. You can see it at:

    For the iPod I have a signup rate of 4,82 per cent. 145 people signed up and 7 accepted an offer. At least I could order my laptop and the iPod already. But now I am afraid they take away referrals claiming their offers were completed incorrectly.

    It’s a hard job. But it is possible to make it.

    Nope, I did get enough referrals but missed the target date by a month. No worries though I got a 360 in the end, my missus bought me one for my Birthday. :)

    People this stuff works, but nowadays Freepay is not the best company to go with unfortunately. they were fantastic at one time, but now they moved on the other end of the scale :(

    You just have to make sure that you go with a good company. There’s a particular one called “Transcendent Innovations” (also know as TRAINN) which sends out freebies to the US and Canada. I got my free iPod from them. Just google “trainn free ipods canada” and check it out.

    As Jen said, Transcendent Innovations is your best bet. By far one of the best freebie company out there.. I completed about 4 of there sites :D $1200 worth of freebies O_o

    its a forum dedicated to tips and help on how to get free stuff
    but the diffrence is the owners and mods dont spam there referal links all over the site

    they actually help others instead of them selfs

    These things do work, im on my way to a free PS3 at the moment, just make sure you are using trusted networks, and exceem is a good place to start to find those trusted networks
